Woodcarving
First introduction to woodcarving under the expert guidance of Martin Dudley.
Recipe Challenge
Three fragments of recipes from an old German cookery book inspired three different responses.
Photo Challenge
All three artists work from the same photograph, trying to capture its essence or just using some of its elements as a springboard for something completely different.

Printmaking
A favourite Blue Sky discipline. Using small-scale printing presses at home or professional equipment at the Ochre Print Studio , the group frequently collaborates on drypoint prints and collagraphs.

Collage
A great way of working out compositions, collage is often mistakenly assumed to be a pre-school activity only. Grown-up collage involves preparing a variety of surfaces by scraping, printing, dabbing or staining them with inks and paint.
Squinking
A mix of permanent inks is applied and washed off repeatedly, staining the paper and creating lines and shadows in somewhat unpredictable ways.
Fake woodcuts
A technique that invites happy accidents. The painting is carried out in gouache, leaving parts of the paper bare. When the gouache is dry, black ink is applied over the entire image, left to dry, and then washed off. The results are quite different from the initial painting, and resemble woodcut prints.
