Texture
and colour are the predominant factors in Kirsten's paintings,
mostly inspired by natural forms such as seedpods and
seashells, planets and egg cells. Another strand of work
explores decay, damage and the strange beauty of broken
things.
Kirsten
took a part-time foundation course at the Reigate School
of Art and Design at the same time as Rosie Christie,
and then went to the Surrey Institute of Art and Design
for a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design & Illustration.
She still takes occasional design & illustration commissions,
but mainly paints and teaches. Some of her work is now
in private collections in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Australia
and the USA.
